Повече за Тhe Reach от The Macallan

The Reach is an incomparable single malt whiskey that marks an exceptional moment in time and illustrates the unwavering nearly 200-year-old spirit at the heart of the brand. The rare 81-year-old single malt, bottled in 2021, is the oldest whiskey produced by The Macallan and has been matured in a single sherry oak cask.

Created during World War II in a period of increasing hardships, The Reach was left to mature in 1940, just before The Macallan was forced to close its doors for the first time in its history.

As an accent to its rarity and significance, The Reach is presented in a unique decanter, crafted by a team of Scottish artisans. The result is a handcrafted harmonious combination of precious liquid, glass, bronze, and wood, expressing reverence for this special whiskey. The fine decanter is made of hand-blown glass, carefully held by a bronze sculpture of three hands.

Each hand represents iconic figures from The Macallan's history and their unique role in it. The first commemorates the distillery workers of 1940, the second is the hand of the former company's CEO, Alan Shiach, whose grandfather led the company in creating the exceptional beverage. The third hand belongs to The Macallan's Master Distiller Kirsteen Campbell, who chose to unveil the whiskey to the world at this moment.

"It is an honor for me to present The Reach to the world - a symbol of The Macallan's history, ingenuity, and unwavering character. The creation of The Reach truly involved many hands. It is also a tribute to the people who have made this valuable beverage and their determined spirit," shared Kirsteen Campbell.

The flawless sculpture with the three hands, which serves as the base of the decanter, is the work of the artist Saskia Robinson, who creates countless sketches from every possible perspective before crafting the masterpiece.

The details are so astonishing that fine indentations corresponding to the imprints of the bronze hands' fingers are noticeable on the surface of the glass decanter. Oak wood was used for the wooden base, believed to have been from the estate of The Macallan during the year of the whiskey's distillation.
